The Dream of Hazrat Siddiq Akbar

The Dream of Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (RA)

Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) was a great merchant before the advent of Islam. Once, while he was in Syria on a business trip, he saw a dream at night. In his dream, the sun and the moon descended from the sky and came into his lap. Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (RA) held the sun and the moon with his hands and placed them in his lap. He embraced them to his chest and kept them inside his cloak.

When morning came, a Christian monk approached him and asked about his dream. Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) told him what he had seen. The monk asked, “Who are you?” He replied, “I am Abu Bakr, a resident of Yaka.” The monk then asked, “Which tribe are you from?” He answered, “From Banu Hashim.” The monk asked, “And what is your occupation?” He replied, “Trade.”

The monk said, “Then listen carefully. The Last Prophet, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), has come. He is from the same tribe, Banu Hashim, and he is the Seal of the Prophets. If he were not, Allah would not have created the heavens and the earth, nor any prophet. He is the leader of the first and the last. You will join his religion, become his close companion, and later his caliph. This is the interpretation of your dream. Listen further: I have read about this noble Prophet in the Torah and the Gospel. I have believed in him, but I concealed my faith out of fear of the Christians.”

When Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (RA) heard the interpretation of his dream, his love and yearning for the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) grew stronger. He returned to Makkah immediately and sought out the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he saw him, his heart was filled with peace. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Now you have come to me. Hurry and accept Islam.” Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (RA) replied, “Gladly, O Prophet of Allah! But show me a miracle.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The dream you saw and the interpretation given by the monk is my miracle.” Upon hearing this, Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (RA) said, “Indeed, you have spoken the truth, O Messenger of Allah. I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah.”

Lesson

Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) is the true companion, minister, and first caliph of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Nothing is hidden from our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He is the most wise and the most beloved of Allah.

It is also known that the entire creation was brought into existence because of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). If he were not, nothing would have been created.

The Camel of Heaven

One day, Hazrat Ali (RA) came home, and Hazrat Fatima (RA) said,
“I have spun this yarn. Please take it to the market, sell it, and return quickly so that I can feed Hasan and Husain (RA).”

Hazrat Ali (RA) went to the market and sold the yarn for six dirhams. As he was about to buy something with that money, a beggar called out,
“Who will give a good loan for the sake of Allah, so that Allah may forgive him?”

Hazrat Ali (RA) immediately gave him the six dirhams.

After a while, a man appeared with a strong and healthy camel. He said,
“O Ali, will you buy this camel?”
Hazrat Ali (RA) replied, “I do not have any money.”
The man said, “I will give it to you on loan,” and he handed the camel to Hazrat Ali (RA) before leaving.

Soon after, another man came and said,
“O Ali, will you sell me this camel?”
Hazrat Ali (RA) replied, “Take it.”
The man said, “I will give you three hundred dirhams,” and he handed over the money and took the camel.

After that, Hazrat Ali (RA) searched for the first man but could not find him.

When he returned home, he saw that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was sitting with Hazrat Fatima (RA). The Prophet (ﷺ) smiled and said,
“O Ali, should I tell you the story of this camel, or will you tell me?”

Hazrat Ali (RA) said, “O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), you tell us.”

The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
“The first man was Jibreel (Gabriel), the second was Israfeel, and the camel was a camel of Paradise on which Fatima will ride in Jannah. Allah liked the act of charity you did by giving six dirhams to the beggar. He did not give its reward in this world directly, but in the form of this blessed transaction of the camel.”
(Jami‘ al-Mu‘ajizat, Saddam)

Lesson

The friends of Allah feed the needy even when they themselves are hungry. This story also shows that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was given knowledge of the unseen, and nothing was hidden from him.
