Those to whom hypocrites said, “Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them.” But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, “Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs.” (3:173

But if they turn away, [O Muhammad ﷺ], say, “Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.” (9:129

And if you asked them, “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they would surely say, ” Allah.” Say, “Then have you considered what you invoke besides Allah? If Allah intended me harm, are they removers of His harm; or if He intended me mercy, are they withholders of His mercy?” Say, “Sufficient for me is Allah; upon Him [alone] rely the [wise] reliers.” (39:38

And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him. (65:3

[Allah praises] those who convey the messages of Allah and fear Him and do not fear anyone but Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Accountant. (33:39

O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allah and for whoever follows you of the believers. (8:64)

2. Hadith

2.1 Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said: When Ibrahim (عليه السلام) was thrown into the fire, he said:
“Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs.”
So did Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) when he was told: “A great army of the pagans had gathered against him, so fear them”. But this (warning) only increased him and the Muslims in Faith and they said:
“Allah (Alone) is sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs”.
2.2 Narrated Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: “How can I be comfortable when the one with the horn is holding it in his lips and his forehead is leaning forward, waiting to be given permission to blow?” The Muslims said: “So what should we say, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Say:
‘Allah is sufficient for us and what a good protector He is. We rely upon [our Lord] Allah’.”
2.3 Narrated Zayd ibn Arqam (رضي الله عنه): I heard the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) saying after his prayer-
“O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that Thou art the Lord alone Who hast no partner; O Allah, Our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that Muhammad is Thy servant and Thy apostle ; O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that all the servants are brethren; O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything make me sincere to Thee, and my family too at every moment, in this world and in the world hereafter, O Possessor of glory and honour, listen to me and answer. Allah is incomparably great. O Allah, Light of the heavens and of the earth. Lord of the heavens and of the earth, Allah is incomparably great. Allah is sufficient for me; and the excellent guardian is He; Allah is incomparably great.”
2.4 Narrated Awf ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه): The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) gave a decision between two men, and the one against whom the decision was given turned away and said: For me Allah sufficeth, and He is the best dispenser of affairs. The Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: Allah, Most High, blames for falling short, but apply intelligence, and when the matter gets the better of you, say-
For me Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs.
2.5 Abu al-Darda’ (رضي الله عنه) said: “If anyone says seven times morning and evening;
‘Allah sufficeth me: there is no god but He; on him is my trust- He, the Lord of the Throne (of glory) Supreme’,
Allah will be sufficient for him against anything which grieves him, whether he is true or false in (repeating) them.”
2.6 Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that this was said
“Praise be to Allah who created everything as is necessary, who does not hasten anything He defers and determines. Allah is enough for me and sufficient. Allah hears whoever makes dua to him. Allah does not have a goal.”
2.7 Ummul Mumineen ‘Aisha (رضي الله عنها) narrated that after the Salah, the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) would supplicate as
O Allah! Grant me an easy reckoning.
(Al-Mu’jam Al-Awsat 2/399, 3649)

2.8 Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (عليه السلام) said, “I wonder why those who fear the following four things do not seek refuge in the following four things. Why doesn’t the one who fears take refuge in God’s statement?:
‘For us God sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs’,

since I heard that God added,

‘And they returned with Grace and Bounty from God; no harm ever touched them.’

I wonder why doesn’t the one who is sad take refuge in God’s statement?:

‘There is no god but Thou: Glory to Thee: I was indeed wrong!’,

since I heard that God added,

‘So We listened to him: and delivered him from distress: and thus do We deliver those who have faith.’

I wonder why doesn’t one who has been cheated take refuge in God’s statement?:

‘My (own) affair I commit to God: For God (ever) watches over His servants’,

since I heard that God added,

‘Then God saved him from (every) ill that they plotted (against him).’

And I wonder why doesn’t the one who wants this world and its ornaments seek refuge in God’s statement:

‘God’s Will (be done)! There is no power but with God!’

since I heard that God – may His Majesty be Exalted – added,

‘If thou dost see me less than thee in wealth and sons, it may be that my Lord will give me something better than thy garden.’

“It may be that” in this verse stands for inevitability.

3. Duas

(Uyun al-Akhbar 2/273)
